I met Jacques Boisvert while he was painting facing the mighty Saint Lawrence river near Baie Saint Paul. I sneaked up behind him!We talked for a while about France and Québec and naturally I ended up buying one of his smaller works which of course now I cherish. I checked his page, the guy has his own style with the colors of Seurat but painting a bit like Rousseau Le Douanier, but much better.
OK, I'll stop here! You did right to buy something, he seems a nice guy. Good portrait and story, please forgive the tirade...
I know not of this painter, but if you like him, I like him and I'm glad that you got a chance to purchase one of his paintings. Certainly has an incredible scene to put to paper!
That's the kind of souvenir I'd cherish too, one created by someone I'd spoken to and liked.

Having met the man, I'm sure that just adds to the sentimental value of the painting you chose.
