Josselin castle was built on the Oust river. It is said a first keep was built here in about 1008. Work on the current castle began after 1370, it was later transformed in the 15th and 17th centuries but from the river side, has kept its fortified look. To this day, it has remained in the same family and still belongs to Josselin, 14th duke of Rohan. It is also a wonderful doll's museum nowadays. Read all about this fascinating historical and mythical castle here. The official website is this way. This is this week's contribution to Louis La Vache's Sunday Bridge Series @ San Francisco Bay Daily Photo.

What a beautiful setting. Quite romantic.
Stunning view! Love the flowers on the bridge :D
a scene from a fairy tale. it's beautiful...and to think that there's a family actually living in this castle is awesome.
It is easy to imagine damsels and knights in this setting. No doubt the bridge crosses a moat. cool.
Love it!!! And now a doll Museum. Perfect. The flowers sure set the right tone. MB
This is just an exceptional shot -something out of a story book. Very cool.
A beautiful castle and I have already seen a fine bench elsewhere... Anything to do with the story of Donizetti's Maria di Rohan?
Beautiful
Beautiful place, I love the bridge as well as the castle and would love to visit doll's museum:)
Have a nice Sunday!
Colorful flowers decorating the bridge by the castle! Looks like a setting for a fairy tale, perfect for a doll museum. :)
It's a very lovely place. I can't even imagine seeing something as beautiful as this every day!
What a fine contribution to Sunday Bridges, Ciel. «Louis» always enjoys seeing medieval structures in la belle France.
I would love to tour the castles of Europe. I cannot imagine living in one...but, then, I cannot imagine living in the fourteenth century either. :)
What a great ide to convert it into a doll museum.

It really is like a fairytale scene! I love the flowers decorating the bridge. They really add nice color to the earth tones of the stones! Thanks for stopping by at my bridge!
